The threat of Zika Virus and associated health risks burst onto the scene in 2016, leaving public health professionals around the country looking for guidance. The summer gave light to various means of transmission, damaging effects, geographical areas of greatest impact, populations most impacted, and more. It became increasingly apparent that Local Health Departments—and specifically MCH professionals—had a significant role in surveillance and prevention efforts.
