The Community Guide Task Force: New Recommendations on Tobacco Policy Interventions

The Community Preventive Services Task Force  recommends comprehensive tobacco control programs based on strong evidence of effectiveness in reducing tobacco use and secondhand smoke exposure. The task force based evidence form a review of 61 studies, of which 43 examined the impact of local, state, or national programs on tobacco-related outcomes and 18 evaluated the relationship between program funding or strength of program effectiveness.
