The National Collaborative on Childhood Obesity Research (NCCOR) has released the first-ever Youth Compendium of Physical Activities. This compendium aims to help childhood obesity and physical activity researchers and practitioners estimate the associated energy expenditure of a multitude of activities that youth engage in. This five-year effort includes measures of energy expenditures of 196 youth activities ranging from sedentary activities to high energy activities such as running. A collaboration between NCCOR, the CDC, and the National Institutes of Health allowed this to be the first of its kind as it is based entirely on youth data.

The data files are available to download and combined with the report are intended for use by researchers, teachers, healthcare professionals, coaches and fitness professionals.

An overview of the compendium will be provided via a webinar hosted by NCCOR on December 6th at 3:00pm ET. Register for the webinar here.
