Few years ago, Michigan began a statewide initiative to address infant mortality. Based on PPOR analysis completed for 11 communities, the state found that more emphasis was needed on the 'blue box' (maternal health and prematurity). In addition to sharing the analysis findings, the presenters will identify specific recommendations used in Michigan to increase local awareness of the importance of preconception health and the findings of focus groups conducted with African American women living in these communities. Successful targeted initiatives will also be shared.
