To further enhance your individual leadership development, consider creating your own Individual Leadership Action Plan (ILAP)!
Step 1:
To begin, answer the following questions:
- What leadership skill(s) are you interested in developing?
- What specific tasks will you need to complete to develop that skill?
- What actions will it take for you to accomplish each of the tasks you identified?
- What results are you seeking by completing each of those actions
Step 2:
Once you've answered the questions above, input your responses into the ILAP template.
Step 3:
Now that you have completed your ILAP it is time to begin incorporating your plan into your current work. Use the document to begin conversations with your colleagues, supervisor and/or program staff. Share with them your leadership goals and brainstorm strategies for how you can work together to assure you are achieving your goal of furthering your leadership skills.
