"INTRODUCTION TO CITYLEADERS" CONFERENCE CALL
September 4, 2008
Objectives:
  • To prepare CityLeaders for their onsite experience at the 2008 CityMatCH conference
  • To engage CityLeaders with one another in order to build initial networking relationships
  • To provide logistical information regarding the CityLeaders cohort (i.e. conference call numbers, syllabus for the 6 months training program)

ONSITE CITYLEADERS MEETINGS AT THE 2008 CITYMATCH CONFERENCE

Tuesday, September 23, 1:00 PM - 4:00 PM
Objectives:

  • To network with emerging and mid-level urban MCH professionals
  • To exchange ideas and strategies with designated senior urban MCH leaders (Mentors)
  • To receive guidance on navigating the 2008 CityMatCH conference
  • To distill and share lessons learned from the CityMatCH conference with other emerging and mid-level urban MCH leaders
  • To receive tailored mentoring and coaching from senior urban MCH leaders (Mentors)
  • To offer input into content of future trainings held through distance learning technologies following the conference

DISTANCE LEARNING EDUCATION

Objectives:

  • To increase individual knowledge in selected domains of urban MCH leadership.
  • To provide training in diversity and cultural competence to emerging urban MCH leaders

MENTORING OPPORTUNITIES
October 2008 - February 2009
Objectives:

  • To receive tailored mentoring and coaching from senior urban MCH leaders (Mentors)
  • To exchange ideas and strategies with designated senior urban MCH leaders (Mentors)

"CITYLEADERS SEND-OFF" CONFERENCE CALL
February 2009
Objectives:

  • To gather final lessons learned of the CityLeaders cohort
  • To give emerging and mid-level leaders a forum to share new idea
  • To provide an opportunity for senior leaders (Mentors) to provide intergenerational transfer of ideas
  • To provide an oral evaluation of the CityLeaders Program to be used to influence future curriculum
MCH LEADERSHIP COMPETENCIES
CityLeaders program curriculum is anchored in the MCH Leadership Competencies.* The 12 competencies, listed below, fall into three domains that influence leaders: self, others, and the wider community.

Each skills-building opportunity in the program will focus on a different competency, and each of the three domains is covered.
